Online store audit at a fixed price

Store audit: where your online store loses buyers.

We review your store along the five decisions that lead to a purchase. You learn where the most buyers are lost, why, and what you should change first.

  • A fixed price you know before the start
  • Reviewed along the 5 decisions
  • Experience from over 300 store audits

Process

From suspicion to findings in four steps.

The store audit follows the first three steps of our 545 method: Measure, Narrow down, Explain. It ends with the handover. Design and implementation come afterwards, by your team or by us.

  1. Schritt 1: Measure

Are your numbers right, and where do you stand today?

First we check whether your tracking records visits, carts and orders correctly. Then we collect the metric for each of the five decisions, split by device and traffic source.

    • Tracking of visits and orders checked
    • Click-through rate, bounce rate, cart, checkout, repeat purchase
    • Split by mobile and desktop
    • Split by traffic source

ResultFive metrics you can trust, or a list of what is missing in your tracking.

  2. Schritt 2: Narrow down

Where do we start, and why exactly there?

We look for the decision where your store loses the most buyers in absolute terms. A weak rate on a rarely visited page can cost less than a mediocre one in the cart.

    • Losses per decision in absolute numbers
    • Order by lost buyers
    • Reasons for every spot in the order

ResultAn ordered list of the spots where your store loses buyers, with reasons.

  3. Schritt 3: Explain

Why are buyers lost at this spot?

At these spots we check which of the four forces is at work: ease, framing, loss or reassurance. We back it up with your data, with customer voices and with a UX audit, meaning a review of the page for usability. Sometimes the honest finding is: the cause is price, range or the visitors themselves.

    • UX audit on mobile and desktop
    • Customer voices from reviews
    • Load time measured in a real browser

ResultA hypothesis for each spot, meaning a testable assumption: if we change X, we expect Y, because Z.

  4. Schritt 4: Handover

Discuss the findings, set the next steps

We walk through the results with you in a meeting. What clearly blocks, we name as a quick fix. What is meant to change your buyers' behavior, we propose as a test.

    • A report to act on
    • A meeting to discuss it
    • Clearly defined next steps

ResultFindings your team can work with, or the basis for working with us.

What we review

We see your store through the eyes of your buyers.

Anyone who works in their own store every day no longer sees it like a first-time buyer. We review the path from search result to confirmation page and each of the five decisions against the four forces. Especially thoroughly where your store loses the most buyers.

  1. Notice

Product tile in category and search: image, title, price, stars. Plus the search result and whether your ad's promise matches the page visitors land on.

  2. Stay

The first screen of the entry page: does it deliver what brought the visitor here, and does the store look trustworthy? Plus navigation, mobile menu, search and filters.

  3. Want

The product page: images, benefits in your customers' language, price and reference price, variants, reviews. Is it clear why exactly this product?

  4. Act

Cart and checkout: when does the total cost become visible? Are payment methods, return policy and delivery time shown where the order is placed? How many fields stand between the shopper and the order?

  5. Return

Confirmation page, customer account and return information. We also evaluate what your customers write in reviews about delivery and service.

  6. The four forces

At every spot we ask: how much effort does the next step take? What stands next to it? What does the buyer fear? What do others say? Ease, framing, loss, reassurance.

  7. Tracking

Does your web analytics record visits, carts and orders completely? No right decision can be built on wrong numbers. That is why we check this first.

  8. Load time

We measure in the browser how many images and megabytes the home page, category and product page load when opened, on mobile and desktop. That includes images from the closed menu.

Result

What you hold in your hands at the end.

You do not get a list of 40 recommendations. You get the spots where your store loses the most orders, with reason and evidence. We set the exact scope with you before the start.

  1. Five metrics

The metric for each of the five decisions, split by device and traffic source. With a note on where your tracking has gaps.

  2. Priority order with reasons

The spots where your store loses buyers, ordered by lost buyers. You see what to start with and why.

  3. Hypotheses

For each of these spots a testable assumption: if we change X, we expect Y, because Z. The basis for every later change and every test.

  4. Quick fixes

What clearly blocks, such as a usability error, unclear navigation or missing trust elements, is listed separately. That can be fixed without a test.

  5. A report to act on

All findings in one place, prepared so that your team, your agency or we can continue working with them directly.

  6. Review meeting

We go through the findings together and answer your questions. Afterwards you know what to do first and who implements it.

Common questions

Questions about the store audit.

Price, duration, scope: the short answers. Whatever stays open, we clear up in the intro call.

Ask your open questions

What does a store audit review?

We review your buyers' path from search result to confirmation page, along the five decisions Notice, Stay, Want, Act and Return. We check each decision against four forces: ease, framing, loss and reassurance.

Tracking and load time come on top. From over 300 store audits we know: often the basics are not implemented cleanly.

What does a store audit cost?

The store audit has a fixed price that you know before the start.

We discuss price and scope in the intro call, once we know where your store stands and which question the audit should answer.

How long does a store audit take?

It depends on the agreed scope and on how quickly we get access to your data. We give you the schedule before the start, together with the fixed price.

What is the difference between a store audit and conversion optimization?

The store audit covers the first three steps of our 545 method: Measure, Narrow down, Explain. It ends with findings, a priority order and hypotheses.

Conversion optimization (CRO) is the whole program in cycles of 6 months. There we also redesign the spots, build them in and test whether the new version sells better.

How do I recognize a professional online store audit?

Automated tools can analyze an online store, but they mainly show technical values such as load time and errors in the code. A professional audit also answers why visitors do not buy.

Look at whether the provider checks your tracking first, works with your real numbers and orders its findings by lost buyers, each with reasons.

Do you also audit stores that do not run on Shopify?

Yes. We run audits for stores on other platforms too, because how people decide does not depend on the store platform.

Full implementation we take on in Shopify. On other platforms, your own development team implements the changes.

What happens after the audit?

You decide. With the report, your own team or your agency can start right away.

If you like, we take on design, implementation and testing as part of conversion optimization. Whether that pays off for your store, we discuss based on the findings.

Before the rebuild come the findings.

In the intro call you describe where your store stands and what you have already tried. We discuss the scope and fixed price of the store audit and tell you openly whether it pays off for you.
